1. Application - Fill in the blanks! The application can be submitted on-line (click here!), faxed (239-278-5710) or completed at training.

2. Information Session and Training - Learn what we are all about! This session will help familiarize you with our program as well as provide professional training from our Mentor Training program. It includes an overview of the responsibilities and expectations of volunteers, children and parents. Training prepares you to be the best Big Brother or Big Sister you can be. There is also plenty of time for questions.

3. Background Screening - Big Brothers Big Sisters conducts a background screening on each volunteer. Don`t worry, we will process the necessary paperwork.

4. Interviews - Tell us about you! Your mentor manager will meet with you to learn about your strengths, interests, and identify the type of child best-suited to your interests, and all information is confidential.

5. Your case manager will contact you when a potential child has been identified based on geographic location, personality and interests similar with you.  The process of finding a Little Brother or Sister for you may be very quick, or there may be a significant waiting period, depending on the criteria and the children currently on our waiting list.
Our waiting list currently consists of primarily boys, so those applying as Big Brothers will be matched fairly quickly.  However, if you are applying as a Big Sister, please be advised that you may wait for an indefinite period of time to be matched with a Little Sister, as we do not currently have a large number of girls enrolled in our program.

Once we have found the perfect Little Brother or Sister for you, we will schedule an introduction. Prior to introductions, we get your pre-approval before contacting the parent and child. It`s a match! Your mentor manager will introduce you at a "match party". After a review of the ground rules, you and your "Little" go on a short first outing or a tour of the school.

6. Once you are matched with your Little Brother or Little Sister our professional staff will provide you with ongoing support and guidance. We are here to ensure your success.
